Website Researcher – Volunteer 1 day a week

The volunteer/s would be working with the MERCi website developer to update the future Manchester website. (http://futuremanchester.kindling.org.uk/). The Future Manchester website is a directory of activist and campaign groups, progressive voluntary and community groups, worker co-operatives and social enterprises in Greater Manchester. The post will involve ensuring that the information currently held in the directory is correct and research into new areas and groups that should be included.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a volunteer or student to take charge of a programme of work that has been tailor made for a volunteer placement. The project has been developed specifically with a volunteer in mind to ensure that it is a project of worth and relevance and will enable the volunteer to really develop an understanding of the regional activist/campaigning community and will allow them to experience project management first hand.

Main PurposeMain Purpose

To assist the MERCi website developer in updating the information contained in the Future Manchester website.

Main TasksMain Tasks

  • To work through the current directory and contact all groups to ensure they still exist and their details are correct.
  • To research new groups and areas that should be included in the directory.
  • Work with IT Development to develop strategies to keep the database information up to date.

The post will be based at Bridge-5 Mill in Manchester and reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
