Sustainable Neighbourhoods Action Group
The Sustainable Neighbourhoods Action Group (formerly known as the Sustainable Neighbourhoods Pool) is part of MERCi's Environment Network for Manchester and is a consortium of groups and individuals who are passionate about creating a more sustainable Manchester.
The membership is wide and includes residents associations, friends of parks groups, environmental activists and local campaigners. Members are kept informed about Manchester City Council’s planning activity regarding housing, regeneration, open space, community cohesion and the environment.
Members act as a ‘’shadow cabinet” to the Sustainable Neighbourhoods Partnership, which is one of the five governing partnerships at the Council. Members’ views and concerns are fed back to the Council at board level. Four times a year the Action Group help organise a public forum on a major topic such as Climate Change where public views can be raised and actions taken away by council staff.
MERCi is a strategic partner of the Community Network for Manchester and we help to deliver Manchester's Community Strategy through projects such as Sustainable Neighbourhoods.
