In 1955 Sir Godfrey Mitchell endowed a charitable trust with a gift of shares in the building company George Wimpey. In 1979 this trust became known as the Tudor Trust. The proceeds of the sale support projects that increase people's capacity to cope, build their confidence and vision and give them greater control over their future. By supporting an independent and vibrant voluntary sector the Trust hope to unlock the potential that exists within communities, providing new opportunities to achieve lasting change.
