Sunflower oil can be made into bio-diesel

MERCi has helped to establish a new initiative in Manchester , which provides green clean renewable fuel to the city. A small group of residents from across Manchester have taken the plunge to switch to "bio diesel", fuel produced from 100% recycled waste vegetable oil (WVO).

The revolutionary fuel will be delivered and stored at purpose built facilities and distributed to members of the co-op on a regular basis.

There are also future plans under consideration to set up waste oil collection points across Manchester and push for the construction of a processing plant.

The co-op has established itself as a community enterprise, secured initial start-up funds and hopes to provide employment opportunities through its activities.

Another exciting aim of the bio diesel co-op is to encourage other cities to start their own co-op and join a National Network, which will link in with local registered bio diesel producers, so promoting the use of the fuel as a realistic alternative to diesel across the country.
