Mersey Basin Trust

The Mersey Basin Trust is an environmental charity working to increase people's awareness and understanding of water and watercourses and to promote positive actions towards a more sustainable use of water.

The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees, which are elected from its membership of over 600 groups situated throughout the Mersey catchment in the five counties of Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Merseyside.

We provide a range of education and learning opportunities around water and water courses from primary school level to higher education, and we develop and support voluntary and community action and provide training on all aspects of water and watercourse protection and improvement. At a strategic level we also work to ensure policy makers take due regard of water in the development of policies.

Other aspects of our work includes the production of a newsletter, the Basin Buzz, to disseminate information relevant to our member groups and a range of student placements and volunteering opportunities on offer, both within the office and out in the field.
