Powwow Eco Arts is a not for profit company, aiming to raise awareness of environmental issues and education for sustainability through a broad range of cross art forms. We have a strong focus on the senses, creating inspiring and innovative spaces and surroundings.
Powwow has been going since March 2004 and has been establishing various pocket projects in the city, creatively expressing issues of sustainable development. We feel that through a synthesis of art, architecture, education and community development we can engage audiences in matters of global interest.
Their premise rests on the idea of 'ecological footprints' or 'carbon footprints'- a way of exploring the individual small scale measures we can take as individuals to lessen our CO2 emissions in the planet. They take this idea of 'carbon foot-printing' to be the starting point of our specific individual projects, and use art, being the powerful tool that it is, to express these ideas.
