MSEF is an independent forum of agencies that support social enterprises, in Manchester .

The Forum has been meeting informally since May 2003. Established by MERCi and Initially called the Social Economy Forum, the loose grouping of organisations and agencies formally came together under the initiation of the Deputy leader of the City Council. The aim was to put in place measures to strengthen the social enterprise sector in Manchester and to provide a climate, which enables social enterprises to establish and grow.

The principal aims of the Forum are:

To ensure that appropriate support is easily available to established and emerging Social Enterprises in the City of Manchester .

MSEF has developed a vision for Social Enterprises within Manchester based on the needs of practitioners and the strategic imperatives of the City. The aim is to increase the number of jobs and employment opportunities and to strengthen existing businesses to help with their long-term sustainability.
